CHITWAN NATIONAL PARK  

 

Chitwan National Park is a world heritage site. It is a rich natural area in the Terai, the subtropical southern part of Nepal.



A total of 68 species of mammals, 544 species of birds, 56 species of herpetology and 126 species of fish have been recorded in the park.

It is especially renowned for its protection of One Horned Rhinoceros, Royal Bengal Tiger and Gharial Crocodiles. 



Elephant safari provides opportunity to get a closer view of the endangered one-horned rhinoceros. One may also get a glimpse of the elusive Bengal tiger.



The “Elephant Breeding Centre at Khorshor”, Sauraha gives you information on domesticated elephant and the baby elephants born there. 

Nearby visitors can see Bikram Baba (Hindu religious site) with archival value.

A short walk (1km) from the park will take you to the “Gharial Breeding Centre” which is also home to the “Marsh Mugger” and number of variou turtles.

Inside the park there are seven resorts run by park concessionaires that can provide lodging, food and access to wildlife activities by providing many facilities.

Various resorts and lodges situated outside the park also offer a variety of services.

Jungle walks with an experienced guide is another attraction suited for the more adventurous guests. 

Season: All except monsoon season i.e June, July and Mid August.
